Spearfishing has its risks. You can encounter sharks, jelly fish, tangles, blackouts, and much more.  But one risk we rarely consider, an oncoming boat, quickly became a reality for Christopher Lastra on December 8th, 2022.  While spearfishing at Magic Island in Oahu Hawaii, Christopher Lastra came up to the water’s surface and was ran over by a boat, thankfully injuring his wallet only – as his dive fins got cut.

According to Hawaii News Now, Christopher regretted not having a buoy out there, which could have prevented the scare altogether and is common recommended practice.  As you’ll see in the video, Chris quickly assumes blame and then exchanged what appears to be a peaceful and cordial conversation.  You can tell by his voice he is relieved, and so are we.
