Installation Process – step by step
Installing the Warne Products SKU 6108M and 6109M is straightforward, even for those who are not particularly mechanically inclined. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you through the process:
- Safety First: Ensure your shotgun is unloaded and the action is open before beginning the installation.
- Use a Threadlock compound: procure a threadlock compound like VC-3 as you will not want to get into the field and find your optic has been jarred loose by the trip to your hunt. I like VC-3 because it will secure the screws, but can be broken loose if you want to dis-mount the optic at a later time.
- Attach the Mount: Align the mount on the vent rib or the pre-mounted picatinny rail. Use the provided screws to secure the mount in place. Make sure to apply even pressure to the screws (similar to the techniques to mount a riflescope) to avoid misalignment. Carefully tighten the screws evenly and torque them to approx. 20 inch pounds, or to manufacturers recommendations. If mounting on a vent rib, be sure to select the first level area, between the attachment standoffs on the barrel. Many vent ribs have a slight taper as it flows into the shotguns’ receiver. This will prevent you from ever reaching an effective zero with the reflex sight if it is mounted on the tapered portion of the vent rib.
- Secure the Screws: Tighten the screws firmly, but be careful not to over-tighten as this can strip the threads. USE THREADLOCK! (see #2 above)
- Mount the Optic: Once the base is securely attached, you can mount your preferred optic. Use a bore sight per the attached video to begin the alignment process. You should be able to get the windage pretty close to aligned just by selectively tightening the mounting screws. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for the optic to ensure proper alignment and secure torque attachment.
