Here’s a Recipe to Help You Succeed and Impress Your Guests If you feel anxious about cooking fish, specifically trout, I guarantee that this recipe will help alleviate any concerns about your cooking success and help you impress your dinner guests. People tend to worry about several factors when cooking it: selecting fish, cleaning fish, seasoning it too much or little, under-or overcooking, and deciding which method to…
Place the potatoes in a pot with enough cold water to cover them with 1TBSP of salt over high heat. Set the buttermilk and butter for the potatoes on the counter to allow to come to room temperature. Toss the slices with just enough vegetable oil to coat and a pinch of sugar and salt. Grill lightly on both sides as you would a chicken breast. Remove the apple slices from grill and chunk them up into a…

This relationship between humans and dogs is mutually beneficial: helping each other grow. In fact, dogs have evolved to be better hunters. But discussing which dog breed is perfect for hunting could be asking if you could wear flip-flops for hiking. The ideal dog breed depends on what the hunters want and the quarry. If the hunter appreciates their dog delivering their hunt to their hands, Labradors…
“Living in Maine means ice fishing remote ponds, hunting black bears, waiting for the moose lottery, hunting grouse in the fall, and my favorite thing—spring turkey hunting!” – Jesika Lucarelli She’s a morning person. She loves waking up before the sun and watching the night turn into day. In Maine, the wild turkey season starts in May. Jesika, now a year-round outdoorsman for Great Mountain Guide Service, started turkey hunting about 10 years ago. Waking up at 3 a.m. is no problem for her. However, sitting perfectly still and quiet is. So, her husband, in an effort to help a…
I didn’t have a wind-speed gauge, but I tried a quick calculation based on how far back inside the pickup those saliva-soaked sunflower seed shells flew after Abby tried to spit them out of the back driver’s-side window. This was one of those science/physics/mathematical questions of the type I recall hating in school. It goes something like this: If: Abby spits sunflower seed shells (they are empty, so the weight is reduced; an important factor, I think) …at X fps against an opposing force (wind)… that reverses the flight of said shells (dill flavored; likely unimportant, I think) … so…
By Makynna Nuttall / Gord Nuttall Mastering the Skills Necessary for Big-Game Hunting Editor’s note: Need to clarify the role of the second author mentioned above – such as a note at the start or end re: editorial assistance, contributions of information, or whatever it is. Suggesting this because there are so many “I” and “my” references throughout, this needs to be considered primarily one writer’s work. In the vast tapestry of outdoor pursuits, few activities capture the spirit of adventure and primal instinct quite like big-game hunting. Stepping into the realm of majestic creatures such as deer, elk, moose,…
