Pheasant Run RV Park: A New Era for Hunters on the Kansas Prairie

Kansas has long been known as a mecca for upland hunters, but Tim Weddington and his team at 10 Gauge Outfitters have come up with a groundbreaking new experience that is piquing interest in pheasant hunters across the country, largely because there’s never been a place quite like this.

Opening in Fall 2025, Pheasant Run Campground & RV Park combines the convenience and solidarity of an RV park with the excitement and tradition of a Kansas pheasant hunt. Pheasant Run is so much more than just another campground in pheasant country.

Now, this isn’t just a repurposed campground.

Pheasant Run is a purpose-built basecamp where hunters can roll in, set up, and be in the field with their own hunting dogs minutes later. Picture evenings swapping stories under the stars in the comfort of your own RV campground.

Pheasant Run is changing the game.

    Why Pheasant Run Is Different

Most RV parks try to wear too many hats to be everything for everyone.

Pheasant Run is unapologetically focused and designed with pheasant hunters and prairie travelers at the heart of every decision.

Owner-developer Tim Weddington saw a gap in Kansas’s outdoor lodging: A place that caters specifically to upland hunters with the amenities they need, the space they want, and the location that matters.

Now, that vision is coming to life.

    • 22 spacious RV sites with full hookups (water, sewer, 30/50-amp electric), level pads, and wide driveways: Perfect for hunting trucks, trailers, and big rigs.
    • Secure storage for firearms, gear, and valuables: Peace of mind is part of a good trip.
    • Quiet, hunter-friendly atmosphere: No crowded pool areas or loud nightlife, just restful nights before early mornings.
    • Three-acre bass pond for catch-and-release fishing when you’re not chasing roosters.

    The Hunt Starts Here

Location matters in upland hunting in Kansas, and really anywhere for that matter.

Pheasant Run sits right off Highway 50 between Lewis and Kinsley, right in the middle of some of Kansas’s most productive and fruitful pheasant country. Hunters can be in the field within minutes, walking CRP grasses, shelterbelts, and prairie draws where birds hold tight until the dogs push them up.

Forget waking up at 4 AM for an hour-long drive. At Pheasant Run, you can watch the sunrise with coffee in hand and still be ready to hunt at first light.

Not Just a Place to Park: A New Hunting Tradition

The real magic of Pheasant Run isn’t just in the hookups or the pond.

It’s in the way it has been built to become a staple of your hunting season.

It’s where small groups can set up for a weekend run, where long-term guests can make it their seasonal headquarters, and where you can meet other sportsmen who understand the rhythm of the hunt and enjoy camping or RV’ing.

After a day in the field, you can clean up with hot showers in modern restrooms, lock away your gear, and either head into Kinsley for a hearty meal or settle in by the fire to plan tomorrow’s hunt.

    Cabins Coming in 2026

The innovation at Pheasant Run doesn’t stop with the RV park.

Eight custom-built one-bedroom cabins will arrive in 2026, providing a new option for hunters traveling without an RV or those bringing along family members who prefer a roof and a private bath.

Each will feature a queen bed, climate control, and prairie-inspired décor, providing the perfect mix of comfort and Kansas charm.

The Best of Small-Town Kansas, the Best of the Prairie

Being in the heart of Kansas hunting country doesn’t mean being isolated.

Kinsley, known as Midway USA, offers homestyle meals at spots like Romano’s Pizza and Tom’s Kountry Kitchen, plus small-town hospitality that makes you feel welcome from the start.

For a change of pace, Dodge City is just a short drive away with Wild West history, rodeos, and unique shopping. It’s the kind of mix that keeps non-hunting family members happy while you’re in the field.

A Fresh Take on the Hunting Trip

The idea is simple but powerful: create a place where hunters can base themselves for the season with all the convenience of a modern RV park, but with the focus, security, and atmosphere that only fellow sportsmen understand.

It’s about saving time, reducing hassle, and putting you closer to the hunt. It’s about having a home on the prairie that feels like it was built for you, because it was.

    Why You Should Book Early

Pheasant Run is doing so much more than just opening its doors to RVers. It’s introducing a whole new way to experience Kansas hunting, and because it’s purpose-built for this audience, demand during pheasant season will be high.

Pheasant Run Campground & RV Park is the next evolution in Kansas pheasant hunting and pheasant hunting in general.

Get in early. Experience it first. And be part of what’s next.
